The hotel is beautiful and most of the staff are wonderful. The overall restaurant situation is not up to par--not enough staff to serve the mass of people. At Sheerwater, we were served salmon with a claim that it was some exotic fish. Regardless, other than the restaurant problems, the staff is great and you can't beat the Del's location. I will always go back. Housekeeping with quick and responsive. Prices for food and drinks are ridiculous, but there are few other places in California to sip a Mojita on a sundeck watching the waives crash in. My ocean front room was priceless!

Stayed fourth of july weekend, hotel overcrowded with more tourists than paying guests, room not cleaned until after 5pm, towel shortage in rooms and in pool area, spa and pool batrooms filthy and not attended to after I brought to staff attention. overpriced for everything including pool food and drinks. ate at the sheerwater and had soiled lipstick stained glass served to me by the waiter, then steak undercooked and took over 30 minutes to get a new one. even with that no manager apologized or offered desert, ect...

I was really only looking for a beachfront location to serve as our nightly stay between visits to Seaworld, The Zoo and Wild Animal Park but when we got to the Del we never left! What an awesome hotel and beachfront experience.

The Hotel Location and History are fabulous. BUT The Staff was absoluty rude and the service at the Board walk was the worse I ever hadThe waitres was absolutly rude to my wife. and there was no managment to report the BAD service to anyone. This should not be ADvertise as a five star resort! Absolutely bad Management! We travel often and like to stay in nice Places But We Will never consider stay at the Del Again.

We booked this hotel because the long history and the beautifull beach outside the hotel. After we got there, we were kinda dissapointed with the room we had eventhough the view was nice. The room was very old, and we could see the crack on the wallpaper wall. We paid a lot for that room. The things that we enjoyed were the restaurant, the ice cream shop, and the beach .
