We booked this hotel believing that it was located in the Old Town San Diego area as represented in the web site. We were disappointed to find that the hotel was not in the Old Town area rather it is located in the Hillcreat area of San Diego and the hotel caters prodominately to the Hillcreast gay/lesbian community. It is okay that this hotel caters to this group, however the web website did not identify this. Had we known we would not have brought our two children or we may have opted for a different hotel. The hotel is old and needs a complete remodel. There is no air conditioning in the room and as a result it is extremenly difficult to sleep. The busy streets surrounding the hotel made it impossible to have windows open cool the room due to street noise. The rooms are big, but are run down. The bathroom is small and the plumbing fixtures are extremenly old and have visible cracks and damage. There are few amenities at the hotel. There is no fitness room, pool or business center. The location is not in walking distance to main San Diego attractions and the surrounding restaurants and shops are very few and far between. The staff were very friendly and helpful, unfortunately the facilities do not meet quality of what I would expect for this price of hotel.

the Park Manor Suites hotel was such a great surprise. A revamped older building with high ceilings and great architecture. very clean & Comfortable but not modern; The best of all is the restaurant & patio on the roof. what a view while having breakfast or lunch or just hanging out!! The neighborhood was very nice and I was able to pick up a free tram into Balboa park. The staff were very friendly and helpful. My return trip to San Diego will definitely include Park Manor Suites.

Oveall enjoyed the stay. Hotel is old but clean and well maintained. Very spacious rooms and excellent on site amenities (restaurant, bar, cont. breakfast). Parking too (1st come 1st served). Walk to all of Hillcrest and Balboa park stuff. You can hear footsteps from the upstairs room, but its tolerable.

The Park Manor Suites was a comfortable place to stay but the rooms were too dark and the living room furniture wasn't comfortable. The bathroom was not very modern. The balcony was nice but overlooked the parking lot.
We both liked the spacious feeling with the separate rooms. It was right across from Balboa Park and the location was central to most of the places we wanted to visit.
There weren't a lot of facilities available within walking distance and we do walk a lot. There was a cute coffee shop a few blocks away but restaurants, shops, etc were over a mile from our hotel.
This did present a problem when we left for the evening because the hotel lot was often full when we returned. While the hotel does not charge for a parking spot, they also do not guarantee a spot. In fact, they do rent out spots in their lot. Two out of four nights we had to park and walk back which is not necessarily comfortable when you don't know the city.
The continental breakfast was available daily on the top floor with a view of the city. This was a great way to start our day. We ate one night in the restaurant and the food was delicious.
Despite being between two busy roads, the room was quiet.
Housekeeping did a great job and we were able to use a computer to print our boarding passes. Our room was ready and we were able to check in an hour early.
So, not the perfect place but certainly not a dump. -

My second stay at the Park Manor Suites and will be the only place I stay when visiting San Diego. Great location across the street from Balboa Park, great for early morning walks or runs. A 10 minute walk to University Avenue for dinning and shopping. The hotel built in 1926 shows no signs of wear. The hotel is very well maintained and very helpful staff. They do have a happy hour on the top floor Friday and Saturday nights, but allow hotel guest first shot at the elevator. There is a free parking lot has 40 spaces, first come first serve otherwise its street parking.
