I'm not a picky traveler by any means but here are a few things that the San Marino has going against it and what I experienced during my 8 day visit: VERY hard beds - my shoulders still hurt from the plywood/concrete material! Some creature left a big pile of poop in the room the first night - the cleaning lady said it was some kind of lizzard. Didn't know what it was so I picked it up.......yuk! Music BLARES in the courtyard all DAY LONG, so forget about naps. Beach is so crowded right there it's tough to find a spot to put your lounge chair. No internet (AT ALL). I took my laptop to one of the many cyber cafes down the street. Electrical outlets are NOT grounded so any devices you take with grounds won't work. Very dim lighting in the rooms. No hot water for 2 days. The bar makes crappy drinks and they close at 10. Did I mention that the music blares all day until late at night? That one really got me! I didn't eat the food there so can't comment on that. The concierge in the lobby is ALSO a time-share agent. I'm there to relax, not get sales pressure for a concept that no one in their right mind would buy. Will definitely NOT return to the San Marino. Too many other nicer places and pay extra $*/night On the good side: The A/C worked pretty well. Hope this helps the next traveler.

Stayed here during September 28 - October 2 2010 and loved it. This was my first trip to Mexico and our stay here made it even more special. I will reccomend San Marino to everyone I know that is planning a trip tp Puerto Vallarta and I am already planning my next trip here. My birthday is April and thats where I want to spend it. The owners are just a joy to get to know and were so friendly. We checked in took luggage up and came back down and not once did they forget my name...lol I give San Marino a * Patsy Blanton Dallas Texas

OK, So I am spoiled by villas in Conchas Chinas and expensive condos in the Romantic zone. However I needed a quick reservation and flight to PV for business and had no time for the glitz. Since I can stay anywhere I wish, I want you to know my feelings about this hotel. It is totally adequate, and I mean, the staff was way beyond polite, the accommodations were fine, it is right on the beach if that is what you desire, and anything I needed was delivered to my room stat. I can't comment on the food as I do not eat in hotels. I prefer the local culture and I have my favorites. You are right in the middle of everything you need and within 100 yards walking distance of it all. Dee's coffee shop is across the street for a great breakfast and superior coffee. Andale's is right there for night life if you wish, taco stands abound, boutiques and fine restaurants are abundant. Yesa has the finest jewelry in all PV right on Basillo Badillo. You will not go wrong with Hotel San Marino. March 28, 2010.

We stayed 5 nights at the San Marino and it was okay. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. The hotel is just old and needs updating. I picked this place because its close to the beach and cheap. We hardly ever stayed in the room except to sleep, so it was okay. If you're looking for something more than that, i'd suggest you look elsewhere. I would also suggest you request a room that doesn't over look Gomez Street. The street noise can be loud at all times of the day and night.

We stayed Sat -Wed at the San Marino and I couldn't say more positive things about it. The service is wonderful and the location is great. - You are right on the beach (a lot of locals seem to hang out at this beach so it was a little crowded on Sat and Sun, but we enjoyed being with the locals) -The hotel has a good money exchange rate (better than the airports) with no fees. -You are in the Old Town area - everynight we would walk around after dinner and we loved the busyness of the area. Tons of little cafes and fun bars. - The hotel is fairly quiet for how close it is to the excitment. - We had all-inclusive which was good for the alcohol, but the food was not the greatest. It was edible, but not necessarly to die for. -The beach in front of the hotel has good waves down just a ways, so it is fun to swim in or to boggy board in (which you can get from the hotel). - The hotel also felt really safe, as with the whole area in general. - The hotel is a lot like the area around it --it has lots of character --The rooms are clean and i think every room has a balcony, but don't expect too much from it. There are no blowdryers on the wall, no ironing board either (but in all reality who really cares?). Bring your own shampoo and conditioner because they only supply the soap. But if you are not expecting anything too fancy this hotel is wonderful. And like i said i could never say anything bad about the area, the hotel or the people.
