I had stayed at Hotel Maya about a month ago and it has really gone downhill since then. The two woman at the front desk were unfriendly and unkepted. The room was dusty and noisy. People yelling all night out in the center round of the hotel. I paid a lot of my budget to stay here and will never go back even for a free room. On a smile rating I'd give it 5 frowns.

We'd been to this hotel on the 4th about 3 years ago when it was still just the Coast Hotel. It was so much fun then - just taking the kids to the pool and watching fireworks from the lawn outside our room - we wanted to do it again. Someone very creative has jazzed up the hotel but it's still basically a 70's box. They moved the pool. Maybe on a regular day this is still enjoyable but on the 4th it was overcrowded with 2 groups that didn't seem to connect. Now there is a bar with thumping music providing people with a place to relax and drink, but there are also the families - like us - trying to just enjoy the pool. It felt very much like we'd taken the kids clubbing. At some point a man threw his fully clothed wife into the pool and then jumped in after her. Before booking I spent time on the phone with the hotel asking for a room on a low floor because our children are young. When we ended up on the 5th floor in the far end building, and no option but to wait and check back every 30 minutes I felt as though the staff were not helpful, and I wondered if this was a penalty for getting a great Travel Website rate. When we walked the grounds scouting a location to watch the fireworks we all stepped in dog poo. :-( But, it all turned out ok. The hotel location is awesome. It's not the hotel's fault this was a busy day. We were actually lucky to have a room away from the party people and our view was beautiful. The decor is interesting. It's more a place for couples now.

I was extremely satisfied with my hotel experience. The staff was helpful, they provided directions any time we needed it and suggested restaurants to eat at. I felt comfortable in this hotel. Parking costs money but it was worth it. I got a great deal on this hotel from travelocity. I would book this hotel again.

We had a "Ladies" trip with myself and 3 others and stayed at this hotel. They were most accommodating to our every need and want. The woman at the front desk even gave us some tips that only the "locals" would know. This was a huge help! The shuttle was also a huge plus! It would come by every half hour or so and take you around town, then pick you up and bring you back (FREE). WOW! This was so helpful. We were also catching a cruise close by and they accompanied us with our luggage! The manager and staff were all friendly and courteous! Another thing that was IMPORTANT to us was the security. Someone was watching over us and there to carry our bags at all times. We will DEFIANTLY stay there again. I read something about charging for everything... we didn't have any extra charges on our bill, they didn't even charge us for the EXCELLENT customer SERVICE that I mentioned above either. However, we did tip them for the services out of kindness, which I personally believe is the better way. My business IS travel and I wanted to see for myself if Hotel Maya was as great as it looked. They were under renovation when I visited them. We were actually "mystery shopping" different hotels, cruise etc. in the Los Angeles area. Hotel Maya got a PERFECT score, the hotel in Marina Del Rey didn't do so well... Thank you Hotel Maya and I plan to see you again along with recommending others to your hotel. Keep up the GREAT work! We would definately stay at the Hotel Maya again. When we check in the front Desk personal was freindly and Upgraded our room to water view which was a treat all in its own. the breakfast staff was very pleasent and experienced. Housekeeping did an excellent job the room was neat and clean. The restraunt connected to the Hotel Maya, Fuego at the Maya was excellent, Alfonso our waiter for breakfast and dinner was fantastic. He did his job above and beyond what we expected. Thanks again to the staff at Hotel Maya.
