The hotel is in a great location, close to La Jolla and UCSD, and the price was fabulous. We had booked a "garden view," to save money, but were given an ocean view, which was gorgeous. We were in a corner, so the room was big, with windows on two sides, but it put us closest to the two nearby highways, so there was a lot of traffic noise late into the night and starting up fairly early in the morning. The AC worked well, with multiple fan strengths, and the bed was really comfortable, with wonderful pillows. The faucet handles at the sink were modern and simple and looked nice, but I was absolutely physically unable to turn the cold water on or off, both because of the dumb design (with only a little "nipple" on which to gain purchase) and because it was too tight. The fitness room was small but well equipped, although on the second morning there were no cups at the water dispenser. We never went into the restaurant or had room service. All in all, it worked for us, and the price was great.

We came to town for the first time in February. We stayed here due to the price and comfort level stated in the description. I was very pleased with the room, comfortable beds, nice flat screen t.v., pleasing views, and close proximity to a beach. A gas station/convenience store are next door (with tall trees blocking the view and noise). The pool was heated, and hot tub was a nice touch. We were close enough to downtown where our other family members were, but I like the serenity of being here much more. I'm glad I didn't stay anywhere else. Also close proximity to I5. Definitely worth it! There is an exercise equipment room, as well. Great for us with two teens, and a preschooler. I definitely recommend this hotel, and would for sure come here again.

Very easy to find hotel when you get off the highway for La Jolla, within walking distance of restaurants and the beach but you'll have to drive to get into La Jolla village proper. We arrived later in the evening and had to wait for a while before checking in because there wasn't anyone at the front desk but the receptionist made up for it by giving us an upgrade for a reduced price and some great restaurant recommendations. The rooms look like they had been recently refurbished so nice modern, comfortable bed and what you'd expect from a comfortable hotel. I'd definitely recommend splurging a little for an ocean view room on a higher floor.

Where to start!?! We were charged extra for an ocean view, the pictures showed the ocean right outside- NOT! It is off in the distance. Your view is a gas station & a freeway. The rooms weren't clean and not as big as we thought. The hotel looks aged and not well kept. (the pictures show a new hotel...also not true). All the extras they promised were not to be found. This hotel was definitely NOT worth the money and you can stay at a 4 star hotel for the same price. Worst experience & would never stay here again. We even cut our stay short at this hotel. My advice - DO NOT STAY HERE!

The Good The Bad and The Ugly The good: GREAT LOCATION People have posted not in walking distance from the beach. It is .5 miles from the beach. We walked every day. On our walk to the beach we would stop at the local restaurant to have breakfast. Not only did we walk once per day we usually walked down twice per day. Restaurants: Great access to local restaurants. We ate at Piatti's one night. It was D E L I C I O U S! The oatmeal pancakes at another local restaurant are to die for. I cannot remember the name. It is Popalulu or something like that! Starbucks almost on property. "Up the hill" in La Jolla Cove The Coffee Cup was a delightful find. Breakfast was unexpectedly beautiful and palate pleasing. Georges the view and the food are equally delicious. The Hotel: It is not the best hotel you have ever stayed in. The bed is comfy. The room is small. The location is great. If you are bringing a boat load of stuff, you will struggle to find a place for everything. The ugly... well the cobwebs in our room were ugly. The dirty front door mat was ugly. The service at the front desk ugly. Would I stay here again... YOU BETCHA!!! The trade offs were worth it!!! I have stayed at WAY WORSE for the same cost!!! I have stayed at hotels in Mission Beach for the same price and I could not turn around in the shower!!! LOVED IT... staying here again next year!
