Big fan of Hampton Inn, but this hotel is right next to several train tracks, and the train noise never stops. All hours of the morning, day and night. Crossing gates, train whistles, commuter trains, etc. You name it, and they are blowing their horns at every intersection; 2 am, 4 am, etc. Everything else about the hotel is consistent with the Haptom Inns; friendly people, nice breakfast, clean rooms, lots of pillows, etc. But I am telling you, this is not a good place to stay if you need to sleep more than a few hours a night. I would stay here again for free.

We stayed two nights, the night we flew in and the night we flew out, about one week apart. Staff was friendly and helpful, but the hotel is right next to two sets of train tracks, one for mass transit and one for freight. The first night we got little sleep due to the sound of the freight trains throughout the night that seemed to be required to blow their loud horns as they passed by the hotel at 2 and 4 in the morning. The second night we stayed their the trains were not as frequent, but enough passed by to wake you up a few times.

This hotel has great, friendly, helpful staff. Additionally this hotel is in a great location and in easy walking distance to entertainment and restaurants. Yes, you can hear trains, but it is not as distressing as some reviews have indicated. The breakfast is tasty and has great variety. The airconditioning and internet work great. The bed is very comfortable and the room was clean. It was fabulous

This hotel is conveniently located to the USS Midway and other sea side attractions, as well as reasonable walking distance from shopping and dining in the gaslight district. It is clean and the rooms are comfortable. The included breakfast ranks as one of the best I have experienced. Initially, we were concerned due to some reviews that complained of noise from the train traffic on the adjoining railroad tracks. To be quite honest, we slept soundly and were not awakened by train whistles at all during our stay. Hotel staff were very accommodating and even volunteered to assist us in printing our boarding passes. The complimentary airport shuttle was most accommodating - both in picking us up from the airport and delivering us back on the day of our departure. Definitely recommend this establishment - at a rate of about 1/2 what other hotels in the area were charging. Included free high speed internet access and a daily newspaper! Overall, an excellent value!

Great location, 1 blk to the Star of India, short walk to the Midway & Seaport Village. 1 Blk to Little Italy and the trolley stops right in back of the building. It got crowded on the 4th but the day before wasn't bad. Now I only noticed the Train the first nite, after that I didn't notice, it runs twice a nite about 11 PM, small pool but too cold to swim. The breakfast was great, the parking garage is small and tight and $15.00 a nite. There is a parking lot across the street at $10.00 a day. I will stay here again while in SD, great room and location. Fred from Phoenix
