Had a great time as usual at the Melia in Puerto Vallarta. The food was super outstanding! I was mentioning to the group I was with they thought the food was 100% better and they said yes. My brother-in-law said they got a new Head Chef. Boy, what a difference. Everything was so very delicious! The only thing I was disappointed in was the charge for the internet is totally rediculous! I didn't not pay $* for the week.

The Melia was about what I expected and that's a good thing. Lots of things we expect never happen. Check in was easy and our bags were brought to our room within minutes. We were on the 4th floor with a center room that had a perfect view of the garden pond and the ocean. We could see all the boats and cruise ships coming and going from the Marina. You could set you watches by the Pirate ship that set sail twice a day. The grounds are very lovely and it's a short walk to anywhere you want to be. The pool is kept well but for my taste...way too cool. There is never a shortage of chairs, but if you don't have kids and don't want to be around them...position yourself away from the two shallow ends of the pool. Go for a walk on the beach and look at the other resorts on either side, I think the Melia is the best looking of them all. We didn't go into town but we did walk across the street to the Marina, what a beautiful collection of boats. There were small, big and really large. Lots of restaurants and little shops, but be careful of the time-share people, there are many. We ate well at the Melia, especially the french toast with carmel sauce for breakfast. We really enjoyed our stay at the Melia and would consider it again for a future visit to Puerta Vallarta.

We just stayed at the Melia during thanksgiving week. We had a ball! The hotel was very clean and nice. The food was EXCELLENT! And all the staff was very nice. My only complaint - although not really a complaint, more just a wish - is that the evening entertainment could have had a little more diversity. The dancers were very talented but I would have liked to see more than dancing every night. Maybe a comedian or magician. But overall the stay was great and we will probably return next year.

Except for the hand-off to the timeshare hostess arrival went smoothly. When I said the room didnt have the view I wanted we were changed to a higher level room with no problem. When the quotnew stylequot in-room safe wouldnt lock the maintenance staff were quick to fix the problem. We thoroughly enjoyed the surroundings of the hotel and didnt feel a great need to venture out although we did. The food was always plentiful and quite good. Also it was always fun going for a midnight snack after an evening of dancing in the lobby bar. We found the staff to be very attentive whether at the front desk outdoor areas or eating areas. The housekeepers did a great job of having our room sparkling clean and our mini-refrig stocked with cold water. Enough cannot be said about the entertainment personnel. They were enthusiastic and so much fun to watch in their evening shows. While we didnt have kids with us we could see that same enthusiasm when they were with a group of kids. We did feel we wasted time listening to the time share talk but we did get free massages out of their spiel. If you dont stand up and walk out at your 90 minute mark you could posibly be there all day. The only downside to this otherwise great 7-day vacation.

First the positive. The staff, especially the front desk, were very helpful and extremely nice. The view from the ocean front rooms were great for sunsets or watching the activities in the bay. The food at the 2 onsite restaurants, Los Azulejos and Vitrales, was quite good. And the not good..... The timeshare people are beyond pushy. After many "no" answers we still got 3 phone calls in our room begging us to attend. I finally got rude about it which is not what I want to be like on my vacation. The first 5 days we got locked out of our room, sometimes twice a day. We got to know the maintainence people. The manager offered to move us so we did. However, within an hour of relocating the ceiling sprung a leak. The front desk quickly relocated us to a new room. However, we still got locked out of our room 3 more times. One woman at the front desk put the blame on us saying if we were putting or keys near our cell phones, that was why.....we didn't have our cell phones on us. This was beyond inconvenient. We were there 9 days and 8 days we had to go to the front desk to either get new keys, get the lock re-programmed, or get moved to a new room. The food at the buffet is what you would expect at an all-inclusive, not great but not bad. The times the hotel listed for food and drinks to be open was not followed. There were times when no bars or restaurants were open. The beds are very hard and if you get the 2 double beds, be prepared, they are small.
