We traveled with 2 other families for Thaksgiving 2010 and had an amazing time. The rooms were wonderfully spacious and all the staff we dealt with were very friendly. The private beach is a nice benefit in Mazatlan since no one tries to sell you anything. The spa is very relaxing and the pools have great views of the Pacific. One nice surprise was the sushi bar in the Bistro. We also felt quite safe. It is a bit quiet at night for teenagers but a couple of trips to town for dinner & some live bands helped with that.

When arriving to PB Emerald Bay, it seemed like a long drive from the downtown area. As we pulled up to the hotel, it seemed like something out of a movie! Beautiful landscape, extremely friendly and helpful staff. We were taken to our room in a mini "golf cart" vehicle after given a tour of our hotel by our driver. The pictures posted do not give it justice. The hotel sits on top of a hill & from several outlook points, a beautiful view can be enjoyed. The beaches were very quiet, (considering we stayed on Labor Day weekend) clean, and best of all, no merchants hasseling trying to sell you every suvenier imaginable. No water sports were available, but that is why it is so peaceful. The sister hotel offers all the water sports imaginable & there is a free shuttle service to it, located closer to downtown. We took advantage of that & it cut our taxi costs quite a bit. It seems like I've found the perfect tranquil, relaxing, beautiful environment I can visit time after time!! A true gem!

My wife and I purchased a time share at Emerald Bay 9 years ago. And for the most part not so bad. However, while attempting to schedule our visit for this year we discovered why time shares are not such a good deal. After enduring 8 years of construction and the associated noise and dust, we were put in our place by a very unaccommodating staff. Even though there were enough empty rooms for 'our' week, we were denied our request. So many empty rooms that they are offering 1 free night for every night you purchase. Our repeated requests to speak to some one higher up in the organization were dismissed. This will be our last trip to Emerald Bay and to any of the other Pueblo Bonito properties. We always stay beyond our 1 week, but not this year. Instead the money that would have been theirs will now go somewhere else. Their loss, not ours. Lovely resort, rude management.
