This hotel is simply a joy. The rooms are stylish and spacious. Our room had a nice balcony overlooking the beautiful 18 green of the golf course and the pacific ocean. The entire property is designed with a Craftsman flair, and the details are immaculate. I was so impressed with the custom blended bath products (shampoo, conditioner, lotion, and shower gel), that I bought some to bring home...which reminds me that I am almost out. TIme to either visit again or order online... The food was delicious. Room service was timely, with breakfast delivered (we preorded the night before) exaclty when we wanted it, and the staffer setting up our meal on the spacious balcony...one word of caution. Do not leave food unattended outside. The seagulls will take that as an invitation to dine. One of our dinners was a group affair in a private room. The servers were very knowledgeable about the food, the property and the wine. Extremely courteous, and very capable. Out of all of the properties that I have visited over the years, the Lodge at Torrey Pines is far and away my favorite. yes, it is pricey, but for that price you get an experience that is unparalleled.

The hotel is very peaceful and quiet, and the grounds are beautiful. The pool is nice;though the water was ice cold;. The hotel property borders the Torrey Pines Reserve - the walk to the beach via the paths through the reserve are scenic, and quite a memorable experience;the walk takes about 40 minutes;. The restaurant is very good - the food was wonderful;eat on the outside deck;. All of the staff are extremely nice and helpful. The rooms are nicely sized, and the decor throughout the lodge is Mission style. Even in July, the nights are cool, and the fireplace in the lobby is burning in the evenings/mornings.

The hotel is beautifully appointed and should be situated in the mountains with a river to it's side. The rooms are spacious and the grounds are aesthetically pleasing. The only little downfall is that the main lobby has a beautiful wood fireplace running 24/7 and the ""campfire"" smoke permeates the entire hotel grounds. Once you walk outside, you smell like you've been making smores. Otherwise, the property is beautiful.

We stayed for 3 nights at the Lodge at Torrey Pines, with 2 small children ages 3 and a 5 month old infant - the service was fantastic - there but not in your face, the room was very large (we didn't pony up for a view) with a balcony, the restaurant was great, and the facilities were top notch - beautiful pool, spacious fitness center and of course, the course at Torrey Pines (which is not part of the hotel, but they have 'special priviledges' there) - they helped find us a babysitting service so it made our stay even that better. All in all, I can't wait to return.
