El Pescador was a great hotel for us. Right in downtown. We walked the Malecon every night & enjoyed fabulous food from restaurants or food stands on the street. Enjoyed marvelous, more -than -continental breakfasts every morning in the open air restaurant. Pigeons flew in sometimes. Didn't bother us or others eating there. It was fun. Service at the restaurant & at the front desk was fabulous. Everyone was great & willing to please all the guests. Although we had a car, we didn't use it much. The hotel DID have a locked garage for the car, for which we felt very grateful. Once all the electrical lines go underground, you won't need to be so cautious walking around. It's probably done now! Only wish we had 1 queen bed in the room instead of 2 full beds. Having the door open through the night hearing that awesome ocean was a true treat. The view was fantastic. Safe & Secure!

My brother and I had an ocean view room which had a lovely view of the pool and the ocean. The free daily breakfast was good and filling. The location is great and there is a grocery store just around the corner. Big tiled shower and comfortable bed rounded out this very comfortable stay for us. It's a short walk to the Malecon.

We wanted an inexpensive place to stay that was on the beach and close to the Malecon. We got exactly that and we are very happy with our experience! This was our first time visiting Puerto Vallarta and since we were only able to stay one night we wanted the best of everything there was to offer. We enjoyed our stay in El Pescador and will definitely recommend to anyone wanting to be close to everything. The breakfast could have been hotter but who cares! We still loved it! I should have brushed up on my Spanish but the front desk personnel helped me out and it wasn't an issue. There were many things to see and do within a nice walking distance from El Pescador. Thanks!

This is not a fancy hotel by any means, but for the price it is OK. Some of the hotel staff speaks English, but all try to help. The only unpleasant part of the stay is that they took our camera/camcorder from our room, and did nothing about it (except sending a different maid the last 2-3 days). You cannot keep everything in the safe box provided at the front desk!!! Also, if you are travelling with children, be aware that, even though acomodation is free for children up to the age of 17, the free breakfast is only for the children up to the age of 12!?!? The location is convenient if you want to walk around downtown and along the "boardwalk" (Melacon), which is about 5 minutes away. The beaches are very similar everywhere, except the ones where you go by a boat or take a long bus/car ride. Beware that in July and August it rains (mainly in the eveining/afternoon) a lot and some of the "mud" flows into the ocean as there are a lot of small rivers and streams, making some of the ocean water murky at different times and at different beaches. It is also VERY hot and humid in July and August. Puerto Vallarta is a fun place to visit: you can do everything or nothing at all. Make sure to visit Los Arcos (if you like snorkling).
