The concierge wasn't very helpful or very personable. We asked her assistance with some questions about Coronado Island, she handed me a ferry schedule and that was as much as she was willing to share. We were charged an additional $* per day to park at the hotel (even in "self-parking" and we were not told of this charge prior to parking). We were told that the fee is listed on the Hilton's website, and, that it isn't the Hilton's problem that the travel agency doesn't disclose this fee. The nicest person at the Hotel was the woman that brought us extra towels. Nice views from the room. The rooms were very clean and comfortable. Overall, I was disappointed. I expected top-notch customer service at a Hilton Hotel.

We got a great deal on Labor Day weekend.... stay 2 nights get the 3rd free. The hotel was super nice. We paid an additional $* a night for a room with a view (totally worth it or you'll get no view or a view of the ship yards packing bananas) It's extremely close to Gaslamp, across the street from Petco, and walking distance to lots of awesome attractions. They do sorta nickel and dime you though :( Internet is $* per hour, they have bottles of water in the room for you (which are $* a pop) and overnight parking (with in and out privileges) is $* a night.... but you won't be able to get parking anywhere in downtown SD without paying an arm and a leg for parking. Overall- if we get another great deal in the future, we'll be coming back.

This is a Beautiful Hotel and for the most part we enjoyed our stay. The San Diego Hilton Bayfront is in the Gaslamp District in Down town San Diego. On the Floor we stayed there were parties that went on into the 3am time frame people banging doors in and out of rooms for hours. We called the front desk and they said they would sent up security but it never stopped. We also were told at check out that the parking was * a night and the valet was an extra * a night. We thought it was all in the price of the hotel stay. When I talked to reservations I asked if there was any extra fees outside of the roomcharge. She said they would take a credit card and if we were to make any long distance calls or order room service there wouldn't be any extra fees. So we werent told anything about the parking. So we were disappointed with that. Otherwise we had a great stay.

I was in San Diego on business in May and stayed here for two days. I travel extensively for business and stay in a lot of convention hotels and this one proved to be excellent. First it's relatively new (opened in late 2008 or early 2009 I think). The guest room was spacious, well laid out and quiet. The public areas are bright and open. I really liked the contemporary design and furnishing of the property. Ate at the inhouse restuarant for breakfast both days. Food was typical buffet - good but not great. Service was a little slow the second morning of my stay. Also ate at the Fox Sports bar one evening. Food was excellent and if you want a slightly upscale sports bar atmosphere they nailed it. I didn't have a car so parking wasn't an issue but this is an urban downtown area so you can expect parking to be expensive. For family vacation with small children I would pick a suburban resort but if you want to experience the San Diego bay front, Petco Park and the Gas Lamp District then I think this is a great choice.

The hotel was very clean, modern, and close to many great locations - gaslamp quarters and Padres stadium w/in walking distance, 10 minutes from the zoo and museums, 10 minutes from the airport, 10 minutes form Coronado Island. Depending which side of the hotel your room is on, you could have a beautiful view of the bay or downtown. We got a very reasonable price with our AAA discount. The parking was interesting- public garage directly next store- hotel allows you to come and go with one price to pay the last day you are there. Only negative I can some up with is IF you are one that expects to have your small children entertained by the hotel amenities (large kid pool, game room, etc.) - and you know who you are - you will not be happy here. They did have a rentable gaming system in the room. A couple of restuarants in the hotel (we ate at the Fox Sports grill - good) and several within walking distance. The pool they did have was a beautiful and heated adult style pool. We would definitely go back. Hope you get a chance to experience it for yourself. : )
