The AVIA is a newer hotel where the Pike used to be in Long Beach. Now the only ride left is a ferris wheel that operates most of the time. It has a modern decor and is clean. The staff gave us very good service. This time of year (November) the hotel is especially quiet and we slept very restfully. Being near the harbor, the place is abuzz and must be substantially noisier at peak season. The pool is on the roof providing a great view of the area. There is even a couple of cabanas that you can close in for privacy. The only parking was on contract with the adjacent 7 story garage at $*/day. It is just across the street. The gym is minimal. Two bicycle machines a treadmill and a workout bench with lots of weights. We did not eat in the restaurant, but if you are looking for other options, there is about 20 restaurants within walking distance. Along with the movie theater, and shopping, they comprise the entertainment within walking distance. When we were there, the Long Beach departures for Catalina were closed, so you might want to check if you are planning a trip to the island. The elevator requires a room key to get above the lobby. This is a good precaution in this kind of tourist spot. A good value.

The hotel is walking distance to Seaport Village, the Aquarium of the Pacific, the Pike, harbor cruises and Broadway (downtown Long Beach). It is surrounded rounded by restaurants and is short driving distance to the Long Beach Terminal for trips to Catalina, Whale Watching and cruise ships as well as the Queen Mary. The rooms are very comfortable and the staff was more than accomodating. Limited restaurant and bar hours.

We had a wonderful time at this hotel! We stayed only one night prior to leaving for a cruise. Everything about it was great! The staff was warm, courteous & professional. The room was beautiful and very clean. Comfortable beds, heavenly shower, luxurious bath robs....what more could a person want? We didn't take a dip in the rooftop pool but we did go up and enjoy the view. We walked to the harbor for dinner at Tequila Jacks. Awesome food & mojitos! We even utilized their awesome fitness center in the morning to work some of it off! We felt truly spoiled at the Avia and hope to visit again one day soon!

The hotel was nicer than expected, looked even better than in the pictures. The rooftop pool was great and you are right near resturants and the water. We drove to Disneyland one day and it was only a 30 minute drive. Will stay here again.
